Olive Tree People operates in the personal care and nutritional supplement MLM niches.

The company provides two corporate addresses on its website, one in California (Olive Tree People Inc.) and one in Germany (Oliveda Deutschland GmbH).

Oliveda has been around since 2003 and manufacturers personal care products. Olive Tree People launched in March 2023.

It seems rather than run an MLM company under its own name, for some reason Oliveda has gone with Olive Tree People.

Olive Tree People and Oliveda are headed up by founder Thomas Lommel (right).

In his Olive Tree People corporate bio, Lommel claims he came up with the idea for the company in a treehouse in his olive grove.

Lommel doesn’t appear to have any MLM executive experience prior to launching Olive Tree People.

Read on for a full review of Olive Tree People’s MLM opportunity.

Olive Tree People’s Products

Olive Tree People’s products are rooted (no pun intended), in the concept of replacing water in personal care products with concentrated olive oil.

We again turn to Thomas Lommel’s Olive Tree People corporate bio;

Years before, I had successfully treated myself with the power of the olive trees and now I developed an elixir for internal use in the olive tree house.

After more and more people had confirmed its incredible effectiveness, I came up with the idea of Olive Tree Therapy – a kind of Mediterranean Ayurveda.

I was convinced that what is best for the inside must also be best for the outside, i.e. for our largest organ, our skin.

I started studying the composition of skin care and learned that almost all creams and serums are based on up to 70 % of distilled water.

The idea was born: to replace this 70 % water component with the beauty elixir of the olive leaf.

This is not olive oil but rather an olive leaf elixir, which is up to 3000-times more concentrated, the effectiveness of which protects our cells just as perfectly as that of the olive tree and allows it to live up to 4000 years – with the highest vitality.

Olive Tree People’s nutritional supplement also contain olive oil.

Product categories featured on Olive Tree People’s website include face, body, inside and hair. Note that some products are duplicates across multiple categories.

Olive Tree People Conclusion

There’s a lot to unpack with Olive Tree People. We have:

  • weird marketing;
  • illegal medical claims and representations;
  • weird products; and
  • an autoship recruitment centric compensation plan

The name “Olive Tree People” sets the culty tone of Olive Tree People’s marketing.

It’s not a trend, it’s not even an MLM company. Olive Tree People is a movement.

The first red flag that hit me in researching Olive Tree People was founder Thomas Lommel claiming he “treated [him]self with the power of the olive trees”.

Um, what?

Lommel doesn’t go into any specifics on Olive Tree People’s website. That’s because making medical claims about Olive Tree People’s products, even if only by association, would be highly illegal (Olive Tree People does this elsewhere but we’ll get into that in a bit).

To get to the bottom of Lommel’s “I healed myself with olive trees” claim we turn a November 2023 YouTube interview with The Herban Farmacy (groan).

[4:22] I had only this beautiful dream to be an olive tree farmer after I healed myself with the power of the olive tree.

…I wouldn’t be here, I wouldn’t exist anymore without the power of the olive tree.

[5:06] One big thing was I had big big issues in my intestines and, as I said, I used a very, how can I say, strong medicines, cortisones and other things. And always when I stopped, it become worser [sic] and bigger and, y’know, not the good direction.

[7:09] And then I healed myself with the power of the olive tree. Think about that.

I had no idea but I was very… I dived into this beautiful world of nature. And honestly I was not connected. But I start connecting more and more. And when I was connected, it completely changed my life.

And so after one hundred and seventy-six days I was completely regenerated. And in these times I also started connecting, from Germany, with my olive trees.

[8:32] And that is a very important part that healed me too. Y’know, from the inside out and yah, the frequency I changed.

That is what, yah, what brought me here to Los Angeles. I wouldn’t be here to day in Los Angeles without the olive tree.

In a nutshell, Lommel has come up with a marketing angle to sell produce from his olive grove through.

Unfortunately said marketing angle is illegal (“I healed myself from an undisclosed life-threatening intestinal condition”).

None of Lommel’s or Olive Tree People’s medical claims are supported by peer-reviewed studies.

Furthermore, with respect to US law, Olive Tree People’s products are not registered with the FDA as drugs (a legal requirement for medicine). Why should be obvious.

The majority of Olive Tree People’s products can be distilled down to concentrated olive oil combined with other active ingredients.

Olive oil does have health benefits. I use it to cook for non-frying because of the preventative heart disease benefits. This is not some secret, it’s widely known.

Olive Tree People’s olive oil comes from tree leaves but concentrated olive oil is… still olive oil.

And I’m not understanding what’s so terrible about water that we need to replace it with olive oil.

Finally, I couldn’t help but notice a large percentage of Olive Tree People’s products are marked “out of stock”. I don’t know if this is a regular thing but it could indicate supply chain issues.

Moving on, we have what appears to be an extremely expensive wall-mounted speaker.

As to the whole “olive tree frequency” marketing; Yes, olive trees do emit frequencies. All plants do.

Plants emit audio acoustic emissions between 10–240 Hz as well as ultrasonic acoustic emissions (UAE) within 20–300 kHz.

Representing that olive tree frequencies are different to any other plant emitted frequencies is misleading. It’s also misleading to represent the source of a frequency as having any effect on its properties.

Naturally Olive Tree People doesn’t go into specifics about how it “harvests” frequencies from olive trees. As per the marketing diagram above, a simplistic representation is made by way of simply plugging into olive trees and broadcasting obtained frequencies over the internet.

Needless to say you can’t just “tap into” an olive tree and hear frequencies you can then transmit.

I’ve got nothing against meditation. You can do it for free in your own home. And if you absolutely must have some frequency white noise playing in the background, a simple YouTube search for Olive Tree People’s stated frequencies returns a ton of free results.

In the comfort of your home, knock yourself out. Olive Tree People’s problem is they’ve created a business around claims related to claimed olive tree specific frequencies. And made a bunch of unsubstantiated claims about said frequencies in the process.

One meditation course of Olive Tree People’s in particular caught my attention as being potentially dangerous.

In this deeply healing experience, we explore the connection between the 285 Hz frequency and the olive tree symbolism, known for their powerful qualities of healing and renewal.

Throughout the class, we focus on addressing and healing emotional and physical injuries and wounds.

You will be guided through practices aimed at promoting inner healing, release, and restoration.

The 285 Hz frequency is associated with healing and reducing physical and emotional pain, promoting rejuvenation and renewal.

By aligning with this frequency, we aim to help you unlock your body’s natural ability to heal and recover.

Drawing inspiration from the olive tree, a symbol of peace, growth, and resilience, we tap into its sacred energy to facilitate the healing process and embrace renewal.

Guided visualizations and affirmations encourage the release of emotional burdens and negative energy related to past injuries and wounds. The olive tree’s healing ambiance inspires hope and resilience, fostering a positive mindset towards your healing journey.

I’m not an expert on PTSD and recovering from past trauma. What I can tell you though is your body isn’t going to “naturally heal” through whatever it is you’re going or have gone through.

If it did there’d be no need for grief/trauma counselling. Which is what you should be seeking out (or some verified and regulated equivalent) if something has or is happening in your life to this degree.

Notably, Olive Tree People don’t specify the qualifications of the people who leads their “regeneration and relaxation” classes. If someone with actual PTSD or heavy trauma booked one of these classes, that’s a potential recipe for disaster.

Oh and what’s up with calling one of your meditation classes “Stronger physically and mentally”, but then only blabbing on about “stress”?

Throughout the class, we focus on addressing stress and improving concentration through the harmonious combination of the 174 Hz frequency and the sacred olive tree symbolism.

Our experienced meditation guide will gently guide you through a series of meditative practices aimed at promoting relaxation, mental clarity, and focus.

The 174 Hz frequency is renowned for its stress-reducing properties, helping to dissolve tension and promote a sense of inner peace.

By aligning with this frequency, you can alleviate stress and anxiety, allowing your mind to attain a state of deep tranquility.

Drawing inspiration from the olive tree, a symbol of peace, stability, and endurance, we tap into its sacred energy to facilitate the cultivation of concentration and mental resilience.

How is any of that going to make me physically stronger?

In addition to FDA violations regarding medical claims and representations, Olive Tree People has plenty of deceptive FTC Act marketing violations too.

These are particularly strong regulatory concerns given, as of May 2024, 84.34% of Olive Tree People’s website traffic originates from the US (SimilarWeb).

When the founder of an MLM company thinks he cured himself of a life-threatening condition with olive oil and frequencies, this will naturally trickle down through distributors.

Who knows what Olive Tree People marketing claims are being made behind closed doors.

Moving onto Olive Tree People’s compensation plan, tiered retail commissions are nice but left completely unsupported. The core of Olive Tree People’s compensation plan is to sign up, get on 100 PV a month autoship and recruit others who do the same.

This is your typical autoship recruitment scheme MLM model. At the cost of retail, otherwise known as a pyramid scheme.

With retail commissions possible (but punished if used in the one bonus they can qualify you in), we can’t rule them out entirely. This is true even if Olive Tree People’s compensation plan is otherwise heavily geared towards autoship recruitment.

The good news is all prospective Olive Tree People affiliates need to do is ask whether their potential upline has qualified for the Team Growth Bonus. If yes, follow up with whether qualification was obtained via retail sales made by recruited affiliates or recruited affiliates on autoship.

The latter would confirm that affiliate is running their Olive Tree People business as a pyramid scheme. Company-wide (and I strongly suspect this is the case), would lend itself to Olive Tree People operating as a pyramid scheme.

There is nothing in Olive Tree People’s compensation plan to dissuade autoship recruitment. But there is a bonus that encourages it.

Between Olive Tree People’s…

  • weird culty marketing;
  • olive oil products (swapping out water for olive oil is pretty basic stuff);
  • whacky non-olive oil products;
  • potential FDA and FTC violations;
  • and autoship recruitment centric compensation plan

…there’s enough to warrant a hard-pass.
